Wae Rebo sits under a thin layer of cloud that covers the whole settlement, 1,200 metres above sea level, in Desa Satar Lenda, Kecamatan Satarmese, West Manggarai, Flores. Guests stay inside a Mbaru Niang, the traditional Flores house that survives only in this village and that UNESCO recognised in 2012.
Getting there is part of it: a 4-5 hour drive from Labuan Bajo to Denge village, 10-15 minutes by motorbike, then a 2-3 hour trek. Come in reasonable physical condition, and bring a jacket or rain coat.

Day 1: Labuan Bajo - Denge - trek to Wae Rebo
Pick-up at 07:00 WITA directly from each hotel. The drive from Labuan Bajo to Desa Denge (post 1) takes 4-5 hours, with breakfast and lunch on the way. From Denge the journey continues by motorbike for 10-15 minutes, then on foot for 2-3 hours depending on fitness. On arrival guests are received with a welcome ceremony at the village head's house, spend the afternoon with the community, then eat and sleep inside a Mbaru Niang.

Day 2: Wae Rebo - Labuan Bajo
Breakfast with the villagers, then a walk around Wae Rebo for photographs before the return to Labuan Bajo. Guests are driven back to their own accommodation, arriving around 19:00 WITA.
